iRex DR 300SG ebook reader

iRex's latest ebook reader would be the DR 300SG, where it was launched specifically for the US market. It comes with an 8.1" touchscreen e-paper display, where you will be able to take advantage of its 3G connectivity to access its online bookstore where you have thousands of virtual tomes to choose from and purchase. Word has it the iRex DR 300SG will support the Barnes & Noble bookstore out of the box where downloads are concerned, and it will also play nice with several other store formats such as Fictionwise, LibreDigital and Newspaper Direct and the universal EPUB format.

It will come with a multi-standard Qualcomm Gobi chipset within, supporting Verizon's 3G network in the US although it will switch to HSPA elsewhere. There is 2GB of internal memory within for you to store your favorite titles, where you can also use it to flip through text files and PDF formats. Expect the iRex DR 300SG to hit Best Buy stores from next month onwards for $399 a pop, where it will cross the Atlantic sometime early next year.

Ultimate Bluetooth headset

Ultimate Bluetooth headset

Brando has dubbed this the Ultimate Bluetooth headset, presumably because it comes with a built-in microSD memory card reader while supporting USB charging at the same time. The design itself isn't anything revolutionary, and we would place this in the ultimate category only when it comes with solar panels to help it remain juiced up throughout the day as long as the sun is up and about. Well, there is nothing quite like carrying a microSD memory card with you wherever you go in your Bluetooth headset to boot, so it would be fun to give one of these $39 puppies a go. Alternatively, you can bring one back with an 8GB microSD card bundle for $65.

OCZ's PCIe SSD Z-Drive

Diposkan oleh techie | 2:31 PM

Call it coincidence if you will, but on the same day that Super Talent announced that its 2TB RAIDDrive would begin shipping next month, OCZ has finally confessed that its Z-Drive is shipping... right now! Originally shown in prototype form back at CeBIT, this PCIe card is equipped with four SSDs linked in a RAID 0 configuration. We'd originally assumed that just a few capacities of the same device would be available, but we're learning today that two iterations will be produced: the Z-Drive p84 will be MLC-based and tout a 750MBps maximum read rate / 650MBps maximum write rate, while the SLC-based Z-Drive e84 cranks that to 800MBps and 750MBps (respectively). Also of note, both models will be available in 256GB and 512GB sizes, though the 1TB flagship will be p84 only. We've checked Amazon again and it's still showing "1 to 3 months" before release, but hopefully there's a memo waiting in some admin's inbox to remedy that.

Every city dweller has had that panicky moment of "Crap, did I leave the door unlocked this morning?" Kwikset's new locks let you check to see if you did in fact forget, and then lock the door if you did.

The locks allow remote status checks and changes, so anywhere you've got a secure internet connection, you can lock and unlock the door at will. It's also got a ton of extra features, like turning on customized lighting when you enter the door or notifying you via email of anyone going in and out of your house. This is all done by Kwikset's marginally paranoid Connect4 system, and it's likely to cost a pretty penny. But I'd definitely pay a premium to be able to know for sure whether I locked the door
